I’m really happy to share some exciting news with you. One of the things I enjoy most about running Hokuō is sourcing the best possible ingredients for pet treats, and after a long wait, our fan-favorite Reindeer Liver & Blueberry treat is finally making a return later this year.
It took some time, but I’m really excited that we got our hands on reindeer liver from Norway this time. Norway’s standards for human-grade raw materials are incredibly high, which is why I love working with suppliers from there. Knowing that we’re offering such high-quality ingredients for your pets is something I’m truly proud of.
Why It Takes Time to Source Reindeer Liver
As you may know, reindeer are wild animals, which means their hunting season is pretty short. In Norway, the reindeer hunting season runs from August 20 to September 30, so there’s only a small window to source these amazing ingredients. But everything has come together, and I’m really pleased that we’ll be able to bring these treats back.
Making the Most of Every Part of the Reindeer
Something I always strive for is making full use of the animal when we source it. While we couldn’t get any reindeer meat this year, I was able to secure reindeer bones—which means we’ll be launching a brand-new Reindeer Bone Brothlater this year. Like our elk bone broth, it will be hypoallergenic and packed with nutrients that your pets will love. I’m hopeful that we’ll have enough to last until the next hunting season.
Why Reindeer is a Great Option for Pets
Reindeer is an excellent option for dogs and cats, especially for pets with food sensitivities. Since reindeer is a novel protein—not commonly found in most pet foods—it’s much less likely to cause allergic reactions. This makes it a perfect choice for pets that need something special in their diet while still getting all the benefits of a high-quality protein.
I’m really looking forward to sharing these products with you and your pets. Thank you for your ongoing support, and keep an eye out for more updates as we get closer to launch!
